The Artist of the Quarter winter 2004 «

Pontus Raud and his mother Margareta Raud exhibited at Norrtälje Art Hall (Norrtälje Konsthall) from January 24 until February 28, 2004.

To the right you can see Pontus Raud and his mother Margareta Raud. The paintings on the wall are made by Margareta, and the wooden sculpture in the front is made by Pontus.

The largest room of Norrtälje Art Hall

In his works Pontus Raud expresses the isolation among people which, according to Pontus, is a result of today´s society. Today there are so many avenues of communication that physical contacts are not needed in the same way as earlier. We become more isolated and passive. Pontus fears that this will make people less empathetic in the future.

In the middle of this room, the sculpture "Cars of Love" is placed. The "cars of love", isolated from one another, are screaming their hearts out in vain, trying to reach one anothers' hearts.

All paintings are oil on wooden boards. In the front you can see the sculpture "Cars of Love".


The progress of a piece of art

When we came to Norrtälje Art Hall, two days before the private viewing, Pontus was busy finishing his installation "Ocean of Monkeys." Below we display pictures from this process.
